A opportunity for an Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician, has arisen within NHS Lothian at the SMART (Southeast Mobility and Rehabilitation Technology) Centre, Astley Ainslie Hospital, Edinburgh. The SMART Centre (www.smart.scot.nhs.uk) provides highly specialised clinical rehabilitation technology services across the southeast of Scotland.
Applications are invited from individuals who have Served a Recognised Craft Apprenticeship /SVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship or Higher National Certificate, National Progression Awards/ Professional Development Awards (SCQF-7) or a Prosthetics and Orthotics Technician Modern Apprenticeship (4 year) at the same level, or equivalent qualification.
Experience in Prosthetics would be an advantage as this post will initially be working in the Prosthetics Service. In addition, the applicant must be a good team worker, communicator, enjoy a full workload and have genuine interest in providing high quality patient service and care.
This vacancy offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to work within the field of rehabilitation, specifically in Orthotics and Prosthetics. Whilst this is a dual job description, current service needs mean the successful candidate will work in Prosthetics. We envisage that in the longer term there may be an opportunity for a dual service role.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
