At Asher's Chocolates, we understand that one of life's sweetest pleasures is a simple box of chocolates. A family-owned-and-operated business, we've been making our fine chocolates and other classic confections for over four generations. We follow strict manufacturing practices to ensure that we have a quality product. Makeup, nail-polish/artificial nails, highly scented products, clothing contain objects, and jewelry are not permitted on the production floor. Asher's provides safety equipment to make sure that our product is of the highest quality. Appropriate footwear for the specific production area must be wore at all times.

The process of making candy can be challenging. Many factors go into creating our products. The work environment can be hot, cold, noisy, and/or very fast paced. You will regularly work on your feet for long periods of time, have repetitive motions with hands, elbows, shoulders, arms and legs, perform lifting of up to 35 pounds, and be asked to comprehend instructions (written and verbal) in English.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for operation of running product through the operating production machines

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must follow all safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
• Responsible for proper start-up and shutdown of all related and assigned equipment.
• Must have thorough working knowledge of assigned operational procedures.
• Must be trained and have working knowledge on operation of all packaging equipment used in production (Delta, Illapac, GreyBill Coffee Bagging unit, Cartoners, Net Weigher, Sealers, Shrink Wrap, Vertical Bagger as well as any new packaging equipment procured).
• Always inspect equipment for any non-conformities and adjust as needed. Notify maintenance and/or manager/supervisor of any issues that you cannot rectify.
• Verify conformance to specifications (GMP, production standards, etc.)
• Change or check lot numbers and Best By, Asher code dates for traceability.
• Maintain a clean work area during your shift, clean equipment, accessories and return to proper storage location after use.
• Ensure that safety procedures are always being followed during your shift.
• Cease production and inform Quality Department, Line Lead and/or Manager/Supervisor immediately when product does not meet quality standards.
• Collaborate with lead associate as well as department Manager/Supervisor regarding job assignments.
• Recommend skills enhancements, self-improvement, leadership, and motivational training for overall benefit of the team
• Ensure all necessary raw material and packaging materials are available for completion of job assignments.
• Complete and validate all required quality checks throughout the shift.
• Make sure that department equipment is maintained in the highest state of readiness.
• Ensure that product quality standards are consistently met
• Timely completion of production schedules to maintain customer satisfaction
• Develop a proactive approach to creating a continuous improvement environment
• Required to possess and demonstrate a restless sense of urgency on the timeliness and quality of their work.

• Performs and assures all duties are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner.
• Maintains a positive attitude when interacting with Asher's team members and customers.
• Comes to work with a 'can do' attitude, and 'what can I do to help' mentality.
• Performs other job-related duties as requested and required by Asher's Management team in area of responsibility as assigned.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job the Machine Operator must be willing to stand and walk over an eight (8) hour shift. The Machine Operator must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, either physically or with the aid of industrial material handling equipment
