Geosyntec is growing in the Seattle, WA area and we are looking for an Environmental Engineer or Geologist for our Environmental Remediation Practice in the Seattle, WA office, who loves working on multidisciplinary teams to solve complex environmental problems. Our ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in site characterization and remedy implementation, coordination with regulatory agencies, and project management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to develop and review approach, scope, schedule, budget, and resource requirements for the successful performance of small to moderately scoped projects or discrete tasks of larger projects.
  • Perform technical work functions as required by project requirements including but not limited to site visits, fieldwork, laboratory investigations, technical analyses, preparation of graphics, cost estimating, report writing and client briefings.
  • Effectively direct teams with common project/task objectives for technical and management performance to ensure team members have a clear understanding of tasks to be accomplished, technical methods to be utilized, and schedule to be met.
  • Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g. technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.) and health and safety protocols;
  • As expertise increases, provide successful management for several small (net revenues up to $50,000) and a moderately scoped project (net revenues of $50,000 to $100,000) and/or tasks for moderate to large projects. In order to be successful, projects/tasks must achieve goals for technical excellence, budget control, schedule compliance, quality control, client satisfaction and profitability.
  • Providing litigation support services, including related to hazardous waste and material management.
  • For assigned projects, participate in negotiations, and as experience grows, negotiate project scope, tasks, budget and schedule with client. Identify situations requiring senior management intervention.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including external conferences and in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 40%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 20%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology or environmental engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E, P.G.) (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Demonstrated strong interest in contaminant remediation and quantitative hydrogeology. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • An outstanding track record for project management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
  • Detailed Washington and Oregon regulatory knowledge. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified Washington locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $75,765 / Maximum Salary: $118,215 (Seattle)
