Basic Purpose
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting activities including but not limited to preparation, review, and posting of journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting guidelines; preparation of monthly financial statements; and assisting with the preparation of the quarterly 5300 Call Report, FOCUS report, semi-annual SIPC report, as well as other regulatory reports as needed.
- Use expert excel and data analytical skills to conduct in-depth analyses to identify, isolate and resolve complex discrepancies, including performing timely ad-hoc analyses, account reconciliations, and variance analyses, as well as building revenue and expense models to help with monthly forecasts.
- Lead projects and provide guidance on main priorities and constraints; execute projects from beginning to conclusion and identify opportunities for process and automation improvements; create excel models for financial reporting and budgeting; enhance current revenue validation processes and lead initiatives to review areas of risk and recommend and implement appropriate controls.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Build business unit relationships and serve as point of contact for inquiries and problem resolution in collaboration with all levels of management and staff. Mentor and review work of junior level team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
- Expert knowledge and experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; significant experience and proficiency with data querying, researching, and reporting, including demonstrated skill validating data accuracy
- Advanced leadership and interpersonal skills; the ability to lead complex projects while working with cross-functional teams internally and managing relationships externally.
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with SOX control environment including documentation and testing of controls and their effectiveness over financial reporting
- Advanced skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while ensuring adherence to deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field
- FINRA Series 99 license
- CPA certification highly desired
- Previous experience in a broker dealer environment and knowledge of SEC and FINRA regulations
- Familiarity with Quickbooks accounting software
- Working knowledge of Navy Federal organizational structure, products, services, policies and procedures
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Location: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna, VA 22180
Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.
Salary Range: $91,000.00 - $127,200 annually
