General Definition
This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles that is ideal for an individual who wants to utilize their expertise in accounting and fiscal management to help others succeed. As our Accounting Director, you will be responsible for fiscal management of all organizational revenue streams including multiple federal, state, and local grant funded programs and a variety of social enterprise activities.
Our Accounting Director will be a QuickBooks expert, have multiple years of experience managing nonprofit financial accounts and have extensive knowledge of GAAP, 2CFR, OMB and other directives that guide the fiscal management of grant funded activities. The major functions of this exciting new role include:
· Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department:
- month and end-year process
accounts payable/receivable
aging and collections
general ledger
payroll and utilities
· Develop and maintain an accounting system for grant management and social enterprise activity that will:
o Accurately track revenue, allocate expenses, invoice customers, audit accounts and provide reports for all organizational financial activity.
o Accurately allocate direct shared and indirect expenses over multiple programs using GAAP and following 2CFR and other applicable directives.
o Maintain accounts receivables balances at less than 30-day aging
o Track spending rates; Analyze spending - budget vs actual
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements
- Coordinate annual audits
Minimum Skills/Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other mathematics related field. (Qualification verification required for interview)
· Accounting, fiscal grant management, or bookkeeping experience required (5 years)
· Non-profit or government agency fiscal management work experience required (2 years)
· Certified QuickBooks Expert (preferred)
· Proficiency in grant management procedures; extensive knowledge of 2CFR rules, OMB Circulars, WIOA guidelines and other applicable fiscal and grant management tools.
· Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Job Type: Full-time, exempt
Starting Salary Range: $83,000- $103,000 annually, based on experience
