Overview
This is a Hybrid flexible position based in our Headquaters location in Lancaster, PA
The primary responsibility of this position is to establish, monitor and enforce corporate and department policies and procedures associated with general ledger and internal account reconcilements to protect the assets of the company, to avoid waste, to deter fraud, and to ensure proper internal control. The incumbent in this position will supervise, direct and guide the reconcilement control staff in executing operational reconcilement responsibilities in a SOX compliant, efficient, timely and effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and administer corporate policies, efficient and accurate procedures and standards surrounding General Ledger (GL) and (Internal Demand Deposit Account) DDA Reconcilements including individual account reconcilement procedures in compliance with SOX requirements
- Ensure an appropriate use of technology/solutions that support overall operational effectiveness and risk mitigation
- Enforce appropriate segregation of duties and compliance with internal controls while monitoring adherence to internal controls and collaborate with internal and external auditors as needed
- Plan, assign and evaluate the work of staff, provide guidance and coaching, establish individual goals and objectives, monitor volume, workflow and quality, manage performance to include conducting performance appraisals, partner with Management to resolve employment and performance related issues
- Ensure staff is appropriately trained and has the tools to execute the reconciliation process in a timely, efficient, and effective manner while ensuring effective use of all reconciliation tools and technology
- Collaborate with other internal departments in support of the reconcilement control function to understand business rules, to document reconciliation items, and to enforce standard operating procedures
- Maintain and apply knowledge of general financial accounting and bank operating processes including researching transactions, documenting events, determining transaction appropriateness, and gain and maintain familiarity with internal control framework
- Support Special Projects Controller with new initiatives and projects as it impacts the reconcilement or general accounting functions and prepare ad hoc management reporting and analysis as requested
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: Accounting or Business Management with Accounting concentration. (Required)
Experience
- 7 or more years Accounting and Reconcilement experience. (Required)
- 1 or more years Staff management. (Required)
- 1 or more years Banking and experience with bank operating and reconciliation systems; month end close. (Preferred)
This role may perform other job duties as assigned by the manager. Each employee of the Organization, regardless of position, is accountable for reading, understanding and acting on the contents of all Company-assigned and/or job related Compliance Programs, regulations and policies and procedures, as well as ensure that all Compliance Training assignments are completed by established due dates. This includes but is not limited to, understanding and identifying compliance risks impacting their department(s), ensuring compliance with applicable laws or regulations, and escalating compliance risks to the appropriate level of management.
