This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC - Wake County.
- Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).*
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Public Safety. This position is located at 3512 Bush St., Raleigh, NC 27609.
This position will be responsible for all internal grants for DPS. This position reviews the 701 report on a monthly basis to see what charges have been made to all internal grants. This position prints a detailed transaction report and attaches the corresponding copies of the invoices and backup and sent to the internal grants manager for approval. Once the approval has been received, the accounting technician will create a reimbursement request through the subsystem for payment. This position is responsible for auditing and analyzing expenditures on a monthly basis. This position is also responsible for tracking and reviewing the upload process for the CDBG-DR grants along with the NCEM uploads that are received. The CDBG-DR and EM uploads are received from the finance sections in NCORR and Emergency Management. Once the initial approval is done by the Accounting Technician, the upload is forwarded on to the Accounting Specialist for the Upload process in NCAS. Once the payments have posted in NCAS overnight, the Accounting Technician will print a detailed transaction report to see if everything posted correctly. The technician will post any check numbers for the CDBG payments into Salesforce. Once the amounts are verified, the technician will forward the drawdown request to the federal grants section for processing.

Working knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of and ability to explain and apply the provisions of the standardized accounting practices adopted by State Government.
- Ability to assist in interpreting and analyzing accounting data.
- Ability to apply analysis to the departmental or institutional needs and determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with representatives of related contact agencies, departmental staff, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or other curriculum that would provide a core curriculum in financial management coursework from an appropriately accredited institution; or
Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of accounting or auditing experience; or
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience as an accounting technician, three of which must be at an advanced technical level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
