Job Location: This position will be located at This position will be located at 1410 Genessee St. Suite 136, Kansas City, Missouri 64102. Our core office hours are 8-5PM Monday-Friday. Hours can vary due to 1/2 or 1 hour for lunch break. (Flexible scheduling may be available). This is not a telecommuter position at this time.

As a DHSS employee within the Section for Long Term Care Regulation, you will get to work in a position that provides clerical support for various staff supporting regulatory functions in long term care facilities. This position requires independent decision-making, critical thinking skills, working with confidential matters and customer service skills involving contact with a variety of internal and external customers.


What you’ll do:

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the Region 3 office.
  • Complete correspondence timely and efficiently assuring correct usage of grammar and spelling, and save to an electronic system.
  • Learn to process paperwork per the electronic process.
  • Assist staff in securing hotel, state and rental cars as needed.
  • Answer phones/route calls/take messages in a professional manner.
  • Data entry following survey inspections and complaint investigations.
  • Assist with inventory and and ordering office supplies to assure there are supplies on hand.
  • Reviewing and processing monthly expense reports for staff, and other duties as assigned.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with common office equipment.
  • Basic competency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Outlook, and Excel), with the ability to learn new programs.
