Admissions Assistant

Full Time, 32 hours per week

Every other weekend required. 8am to 4pm with flexibility.

Assist and support maintenance of facility census at established levels while participating in facility marketing efforts.

  • Medicare and/or Managed Care regulation experience preferred
  • Medical and Insurance knowledge preferred
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions. Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent knowledge of the MS Suite and other office equipment.
  • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.

1. Assists in coordinating facility admissions through the assessment of documentation for prospective admissions / suitability of placement including verification of insurance coverage(s).

2. Collaborates with Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Nursing Supervisors pertaining to the coordination of prospective admissions.

3. Supports the completion of admissions paperwork with residents and/or family member(s).

4. Communicates patient information in a clear concise manner and provides clinical and financial information to facility staff.

5. Support daily contact with hospitals through telephone contacts to promote referrals to the facility and to act as a liaison between the hospitals' discharge planners and the admission and nursing department.

6. Partake in the 24/7 (weekends and holidays) referral review and insurance verification.

7. Supports maintenance of census according to budget.

8. Support managing of the Admissions Committee.

9. Supports chairing of the Marketing Committee. Assists with representing the facility in marketing activities, both internally and externally to include, but not limited to: in-service education, public speaking programs, visits to new or potential referral sources, etc.

10. Maintains Waiting List and Inquiry List according to State Regulations.

11. Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by the Administrator and or Director.
