Job Description
This position exists to recruit students based on the annual college and program recruitment goals. The overall objective of this position is to coordinate, implement, and evaluate all activities that educate and inform prospects, parents, high school personnel, and referral agencies which includes both in-person and virtual capacities. The admissions representative serves as a spokesperson for the college through presentations, meetings, and communications with prospective students, high school counselors and teachers, and community referrals; again, functioning in both in-person/traditional and virtual recruitment/outreach. The position also maintains the critical link between Student Affairs, the college faculty & staff and will work collaboratively with other MinnState colleges.
Required Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in a related field, i.e. Business, Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work, Education or equivalent experience.
- Ability to develop and deliver public presentations to various audiences.
- Customer service skills sufficient to perform duties with courtesy and respect. Answer phones, refer callers, meet and greet visitors with courtesy and respect and provide prompt courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone and through email as well as written correspondence.
- Proficiency with a variety of word processing, database, and web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and create reports.
- Proficient organizational and project management skills.
- Organizational skills sufficient to process and maintain data and manage multiple and diverse responsibilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills are needed since the position is highly interactive with a variety of people.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to multiple locations in the local service area.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of professional level experience in recruiting and admissions, student affairs, or higher education.
- Experience providing direct service to internal and external stakeholders in higher education; including but not limited to high schools, work force centers, and industry partners.
- Knowledge of Minnesota State’s Integrated Student Record System (ISRS) and a customer relations management system (i.e. Connect).
- Independent decision-making skills sufficient to make appropriate, well-thought-out admissions, testing, technology support and student records recommendations.
- Knowledge of private data practices and FERPA.
- Experience working with international (F-1) students and/or concurrent enrollment (PSEO) populations.
- Experience with Customer Relation Management systems.
- Knowledge of basic principles of database management and the ability to enter and retrieve data.
- Self-motivated/self-disciplined.
- Fluency in another/other language(s) in addition to English
