The Shelby location is Clearwater Paper’s newest consumer products facility, boasting two paper mills located on 400 acres with over 600 talented employees. We are proud to produce a variety of high-quality premium and ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Our state-of-the-art technology includes 10 converting lines, 54 laser-guided vehicles, and 2 paper machines producing large quantities at high speed. What you will do:
- Process owner & expert in Quality processes.
- Create procedures, process flow diagrams, instructions, forms, and checklists (process documentation) as needed to maintain a high level of Quality Standards.
- Maintain current QMS documentation including updating, adding as necessary policies, procedures, standard work instructions, and forms to improve the efficacy of the quality management system.
- Ensure document and records control are maintained and kept current.
- Help ensure that records are established and maintained to provide evidence that the Management Systems are being followed and that there are systems in place for identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time, and disposition of such records.
- Identify opportunities to streamline current Quality Management Systems, without compromising integrity and conformance to internal /external standards.
- Participate in internal auditing activities as needed.
- Act as a liaison between different departments (Engineering, warehousing, etc) to help implement QMS.
- Manages quality system elements to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization.
Provide training & guidance on workmanship standards application and interpretation.
- Create new workmanship standards as needed, driven by plant/business needs.
- Maintain documentation for current workmanship standards.
- Create and maintain training modules within the current online training system.
- Act as a liaison between different sites within CLW to help close the gaps within the current standards.
Test Methods Development
- Help develop new test methods based on internal and external customer needs utilizing industry best practices or standards. (ISO, TAPPI, ASTM, etc)
- Create reports of quality control tests and analyze the data to determine if any changes in the process are necessary.
- Perform statistical analysis and data analysis as needed.
Product Testing
- Be familiar with and coordinate sensory testing as needed. (Hand-feel)
- Develop and ensure product testing methods are consistently implemented across CPD sites.
- Provides leadership to corporate and mill employees in quality; is seen as an expert in the field; is approachable and willing to help at all levels.
- Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards.
Quality Support & Improvement
- Provide support to internal site audits (QSV) & 3rd party audits, as needed.
- Work with the Quality team to identify, design and implement improvements to quality systems, processes, procedures, documents, etc.
- Provide support to Technical, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Supply chain, and others as needed to ensure customer expectations are understood, met and any complaints resolved.

What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Textile required.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in paper, Textile, Chemicals or Polymers industry.
- Green belt or statistical background preferred.
- Experience in the Paper or Converting industry preferred.
- Experience performing internal audits is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to an organization that adheres to ISO 9001, 14001 or GMP regulations.
- Strong administration and organization skills and experience of managing multiple concurrent activities.
- Must be an effective communicator (written and verbal), highly organized, detail oriented with excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and technical writing skills required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Visio and any statistical software.
- Able to manage data for analysis and reporting. Understanding of root cause analysis tools (5 Why’s, etc.).
- Experience managing or working in an ISO / GMP environment.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all levels within the organisation.
- High level of attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team within a changing/developing environment and be able to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-starter: Ability to drive things to closure.
- Flexible in approach and able to adapt to new situations easily.
- Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards.
- Physically capable of manual labor that includes bending, walking, and climbing in and around machinery and equipment.
- Utilize hand tools, oil jugs, small and large core chucks, and product slabs.
- Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Operator will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
- Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
- Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (eye and ear protection, steel toed shoes, face masks, etc.)
- Travel, up to 30%.
