Employment Status Non-Exempt; Full-Time (Seasonal)
Salary: $21.50 per hour per Chapter 7 Ordinance
Certifications/Licenses: MA Driver's license Class D preferred with insurable driving record. Certifications in Adult/Pediatric First Aid and C.P.R./A.E.D.
SUMMARY
The City of Chicopee’s Parks and Recreation Department is hiring an Aquatics Director who has the primary responsibility of overseeing daily operations of all pools and staff. Must have ability to run in-service training for staff. Supervise and schedule staff’s weekly schedules. Individuals are responsible for implementation of pool maintenance procedures. Individuals must be able to troubleshoot problems.
SOME ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE
- Ensures daily teaching schedules, employee hours, and reports any changes to Recreation Supervisor.
- Ensures the daily pool chemical standards are being maintained.
- Maintains the appearance and safety of the pool and all its surrounding areas.
- Handles all staff and patron grievances and addresses them to the Recreation Supervisor as needed.
- Enforces all rules and regulations regarding staff and patrons while on duty.
- Keeps up-to-date and organized records of all daily pool chemical standards, equipment, and supplies.
- Keeps accurate weekly time sheets, daily and weekly logs, and in-service training records. All paperwork turned in on time to the Recreation Supervisor.
- Works as lifeguard if needed.
- Responsible for daily opening and closing of pool, on time when on duty.
- Assures the safety of all patrons.
- Evaluates the performance of all staff members with Head Lifeguard and review evaluation with each member.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be minimally qualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or College Degree (preferred)
- year related experience in Head lifeguarding of pools or open water (preferred).
- General knowledge of pools, pool maintenance and customer service (preferred).
- Driver's license preferred.
- Certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or Y.M.C.A., American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric First Aid C.P.R./A.E.D., American Red Cross Adult/Pediatric C.P.R./A.E.D., American Red Cross Adult Pediatric First Aid, American Heart Association Basic First Aid, American Heart Association C.P.R./A.E.D. and W.S.I., AFO or CPO preferred.

This role is classified as Group 4, Section II, aa of theCity of Chicopee’s Chapter 7 Ordinance paying$21.50 per hour.
