We are professional, supportive, fun and our goal is to Located in beautiful Petoskey, Michigan, Blue Water is an expansion of an existing company with over 40 years of experience as a Design-Build construction firm. We are seeking someone with the vision and drive to take this department to the next level. We focus on residential remodeling and home building and are committed to understanding and developing the customer's vision for their home. Working collaboratively with our homeowners, subcontractors, and carpenters is how we have succeeded for the past 40 years and why we can expand our services to architectural design. Because this department is a newer division, this candidate will have to show passion for architecture as well as the company. This position would be perfect for those who have the drive to start their own business but would like the support of an established company behind them. They will have the opportunity to grow and manage this division. This region of Northern Michigan allows us to build and work on some of the most beautiful homes on Lake Charlevoix, Walloon Lake, and Lake Michigan. It also allows us to enjoy everything it has to offer as well. This area is known to be a great place to raise a family, with lots to do in the summer on the water or in the winter with snow sports. There are many local restaurants and shops in the area, which all aid with the "dense suburban feel" that Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, and the surrounding areas have to offer..

Architect Job Responsibilities:
- Researches, programs, plans, designs, and administers building projects for clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning and building codes, and building materials and systems.
- Produces conceptual plans, renderings, and construction documents.
- Plans and programs layout of project(s); coordinates and integrates engineering elements into a unified design for client review and approval.
- Utilizes computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans.
- Produces construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Working with the Project Manager, may direct, supervise, and check activities of others engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents for the Conceptual Design Phase, Schematic Design Phase, and/or the Detailed Design Phase of a project.
- Interfaces with Lead Designer and project managers.
- Works in tandem with highly collaborative multi-discipline design teams and outside consultants.
- Assists in research and coordination of materials and products for project specifications.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Current Michigan architectural license or reciprocity in the state of Michigan
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution
- Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems, and site requirements
- Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software (we are flexible in the format you use), and Microsoft Office suite are required.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
