Summary:

  • Reporting to the Associate Director, Workplace Planning + Design, the Intermediate Architectural Designer will work closely in support of Sr Workplace Planning and Design staff to assist in the management of day-to-day workplace projects to meet critical deadlines.
  • Based out of Client Foster City, CA Headquarters, this role will provide project support in creating and developing overall design concepts and presentation decks, in addition to assisting in the selection of furniture & finishes, etc.
  • This role will work cross-functionally to execute workplace design projects of more than 100 buildings across 36 countries, ensuring project meet design intent while adhering to Client Global Design Guidelines and Good Engineering Practice standards.

Duties:

  • This role requires an in-depth knowledge and experience of both interior design & architecture in the areas of workplace design and will require close collaboration internally with Workplace, Project Management, Engineering and Facilities teams, and externally with consultants, vendors, and General Contractors.
  • This role requires critical design thinking and unique design perspectives in bringing new approaches to workplace design and strategy.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Develop workspace design concepts and represent Workplace team to lead in the implementation of projects from concept to completion.
  • Responsible for the delivery of design project presentation materials by developing colored blocking plans, test-fits, elevations, 3D renderings, presentation decks, visioning concept boards, mood boards, and other design tasks that arises.
  • Design and develop interior workspace projects to produce 3D photorealistic renderings and 3D video walkthroughs for presentations.
  • Research interior materials specifications and support in project programming efforts.
  • Apply best practice workplace design tools and methodologies to design projects, developing color and materials palettes, mood boards, and furniture layouts with ancillary and systems furniture, as appropriate.
  • Assist in the selection, coordination, and procurement of furniture, fixtures, equipment, artwork & graphics that aligns with Client Global Design Guideline – document final selections, as required.
  • Assist in benchmarking Workplace FF&E and fit out costs against direct vendor competitors and ability to propose alternative solutions to optimize costs.
  • Champion user experience, human-centric design, and reinforce Client culture as expressed in the physical workspaces.
  • Partner with Facilities Operations, Real Estate, Project Management, and Workplace Planning + Design teams to develop a workplace and real estate strategy paper.
  • Support in the ongoing development and implementation of workplace global design guidelines, play books and policies.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's/ Master’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with a BS/BA OR 3 years with MS/MA with relevant work experience in the space planning of workplace, hospitality, or retail project.
  • Proficient in BIM, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and Enscape/3D rendering software, in addition to the ability to read architectural drawings.
  • Ability to create 2D CAD drawings and 3D photorealistic renderings to display a representation of the space.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and PowerPoint, and Miro to craft a clear narrative with images for key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creative thinker who is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys problem solving.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to organize and prioritize with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with excellent organizational skills.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, open, collaborative environment and be able to prioritize tasks across multiple projects in different phases of completion.
  • Strong team player with an ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates creativity, passion and interest in workplace strategy and design.
  • Knowledge and experience of furniture systems, ancillary, and finishes.
  • Knowledge of laboratory planning (preferred).
  • Knowledge of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality presentation methods (preferred)
