DEFINITION: Collaborate with Classroom Teachers regarding student progress and coordinating Arts Integration services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class).
TASKS:
Provide arts integration lessons with thematic units of study.
Serve as the Arts Integration coordinator for the school, coordinating meetings, field trips and performances.
Collaborate with Classroom Teachers regarding student progress (assignment of the grade will be documented by the Classroom Teachers).
Meet regularly with Classroom Teachers, by grade level, to design lessons assess, and refine arts integration.
Attend school professional development sessions as scheduled.
Coordinate and deliver district professional development training for elementary fine arts teachers that will occur at least four times during school year.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of art education, fine arts and OMA
Knowledge of School, District, and community resources and management.
Skill in effective written and oral communication.
Skill in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Internet, and Outlook (e-mail).
Ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with student/families, staff, and community agencies.
Ability in analyzing situations and information and using sound judgment to make decisions and determining appropriate course of action.
Ability in planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating intervention activities.
Ability to compile accurate data and prepare clear and concise reports and communications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor and lifting up to 15 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Arizona Teaching Certification in elementary or secondary education; Endorsement in Art, Dance, Drama or Music
OR
AZ Arts Education Certification in Art, Dance, Drama or Music
Structured English Immersion (SEI) requirement
Three years of classroom instruction experience.
Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Experience with one or more of the arts disciplines (music, drama, dance, visual arts)
Experience with integration of the art form(s) with tested curricular subjects.
Knowledge of the Arizona State Standards and of the Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
ESL Endorsement or Bilingual Spanish Endorsement
