North Florida Surgery Center is looking to add a Certified Medical Coding Specialist that is proficient in multi specialty coding.

Summary

The Certified Medical coding specialist is responsible for understanding and coding all procedures within regulatory mandates.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of the position include:

a) Reads and understands operative reports.

b) Assigns CPT procedure code for each case in a timely manner.

c) Questions physicians’ offices or business office coordinator regarding any complex/unusual cases

d) Understands concept of unbundling and heeds government regulations

e) Assigns diagnosis codes to the highest level of specificity.

f) Understands Medicare/payer groups rules and regulations.

a) Understands and abides by billing compliance regulations.

b) Understands anatomy.

c) Appends bilateral, multiple procedure, and special requirement modifiers appropriately.

Completes coding form

Qualifications

Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians

2. Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public

3. Ability to make decisions and solve problems

Requirements

Must pass a level II AHCA Background screening in conjunction with Chapter 435 (section 408.809(4)

1. High school diploma or GED certificate

2. Training or courses in business office activities

3. Medical coding certification

4. Good typing skills

5. Good communication skills

6. Good computer skills

7. Strong ethical and moral character references

Preferred

1. ASC experience

Physical: Must be able to move from a sitting to standing position. Must be able to sit for an extended period of time. Must be able to communicate clearly and articulately with patients, provider offices and visitors. Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
