Assembler
Forney, LP, a privately held, middle-market supplier of materials testing equipment is seeking an Assembler.
Position Summary:
This position includes all aspects of assembling Forney manufactured items.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Assemble machines and other parts.
- Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Read and interpret drawings and use high precision measuring tools to verify objects meet spec.
- Read, comprehend, and follow instructions.
- Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
- Use a computer, including typing, email, and navigating company software.
- Completing the mechanical assembly of small parts to over 1k lb. large machines
- Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
- Assemble parts into a finished product.
- Working with wires, using hand tools, and handling small components requires manual dexterity.
- Using cranes, fork truck, air tools, hand tools, etc. to perform the job.
- Move finished products to with fork truck or crane.
- Picking “Bill of Material” items from the warehouse to the assembly floor.
- Operate machinery including sit down forklift, man lift, overhead crane, and walk behind the forklift.
- Operate power & pneumatic tools – drills, grinders, impact wrench, staple gun, nail gun.
- Floats into receiving and shipping when required
- Receive, label, and put away materials in the warehouse
- Fill customer’s orders by picking items, packing, and using company software to ship items.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment
- Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
- Wear proper safety equipment.
Job Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Read and interpret drawings and use high precision measuring tools; blueprints, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.
- Must have a current forklift certification.
- Proficiency in inventory software, databases, and systems.
- Proven working experience as a warehouse worker and familiarity with warehouse practices and methods.
- Must have the ability to safely operate cranes and fork trucks.
- Must have knowledge of hydraulics; ability to wire 120v/220v single-phase power and 220v/440v three-phase power.

Physical Capabilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to switch from sitting to standing frequently throughout the shift. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
This position requires duties to be performed in a warehouse setting where the temperature may vary and be higher or lower than a normal indoor temperature.
- Requires frequent standing, kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting, climbing and performing work in overhead areas.
- Requires walking considerable distances throughout the facility during the course of his or her shift.
- Requires reaching for objects anywhere from floor level to overhead areas.
- Depending on the materials and equipment involved, Assemblers may experience exposure to loud noise and/or hazardous chemicals.
The duties of this position are repetitive in nature and both hands must be used to operate tools and manipulate materials. There is the use of a keyboard and computer monitor.'
