SKF in Sumter, SC is currently hiring for Assembly Technicians for 2nd and 3rd shifts!

About the Position:

This position is responsible for the inspection and assembly of finished and semi-finished product using sub-assemblies and components in compliance with engineering drawings, customer, and company specifications. Your role will be to approve finished goods within specifications prior to packaging and shipment to customers. The company’s world-class manufacturing industry is experiencing an increased demand, leading to a new line design and installation of state-of-the-art equipment and handling systems. SKF provides bearings for the military, medical, aerospace, and heavy construction industries, among others. The Shifts we are seeking to are for 2nd shift (M-F, 3pm – 11pm) and 3rd shift (Sun – Thurs, 11pm – 7am).


Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to:

  • Follow safety procedures by wearing steel toed shoes and ANSI approved safety glasses.
  • Read engineering drawings, Blue Prints, and specifications.
  • Perform inspection checks and make decisions based on specified tolerances according to specifications.
  • Record data as required in the inspection and assembly procedures.
  • Communicate significant information between supervisors and co-workers.
  • Assist in the training and development of new employees.
  • Move and position parts, containers, gages, or any other equipment for the performance of inspection or assembly operations.
  • Match races and load balls, rollers, or other components.
  • Obtain a specified diametrical clearance or metal to metal fit.
  • Perform etching for proper identification.
  • Mark indicated measurements as needed.
  • Install seals and shields of required spoecifications.
  • Perform necessary greasing of bearings and bearing assemblies.
  • Performs continuous improvement (lean) activities as assigned or required.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment including identification of unsafe conditions.


Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED required.

  • Ability to read standard notes, symbols, and instructions.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

  • Available to work 2nd or 3rd shift.

  • Steel toed shoes and ANSI approved safety glasses with side shields must be worn at all times.


Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in basic Math skills.
  • Prior manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred.
  • Prior experience reading blue-prints and use of calipers, or indicators is a plus!
  • Works well in a Team environment.
  • Collaborative problem-solving skills within a manufacturing environment.
  • Desire to learn and grow with the company.
