The assessor’s office is accepting applications for the position of Assessing Clerk/Field Support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has strong organizational skills, excellent work ethic, ability to work independently, and desires to continue to develop and grow in their skills in the assessment administration profession.
Purpose and Scope
This position will perform a variety of administrative tasks to support the Assessing Department’s operations. This position responds to citizen inquiries and maintains department files. This position requires public contact and travel, in a city vehicle, between two municipalities, residences, and businesses. This position will assist in the inspection, measurement, and collection of property data and sketching of new construction and existing property.

Education/Experience/Knowledge:
Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT) or a Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO) preferred. Additional training and education acquired through a business college, or a university is desired. Training will be provided, if available, for BS&A software, Apex Sketch, Pivot Point Field App, and ArcGIS but prefer a candidate with experience using these programs.

Other Requirements:
The ability to obtain a Michigan Certified Assessing Technician (MCAT) certification from the Michigan State Tax Commission within the first six months is expected, as well as attending training opportunities throughout the year.

Work Schedule
An average of 20-35 hours/week is expected. Typically, Monday through Friday, with flexibility of workdays and work hours with approval from assessor. The months of May through September would allow for 30-35 hours/week to complete parcel reviews and permits.

Pay range depending on qualifications.
Grade 3, $17.99 - $23.39/hour
