Salary: Up to $75,000 per year

Schedule: Monday-Friday (220 school days)

Assistant Principal Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to pass a thorough background check
• Must be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Experience: at least 4 years experience in relative field in Special Education
• Education: A minimum of a Bachelors in a relative field with…

-Arizona teaching certification and must have a current SPED Endorsement from the state of Arizona. AND must have a primary and/or secondary certification.

-A current administrative certification in the state of Arizona with the willingness to attain an Arizona teaching certification with a SPED Endorsement which may be paid by MMYTC. The candidate must be enrolled in a program for SPED within 45 days of employment.

Essential Functions:

• Emotionally and physically able to assist in physical escort and/or restraint.
• Must be physically able to assist in AWOL searches in mountainous terrain.
• Prepare periodic and special evaluations through the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and IEP on the assigned youth, report significant changes in educational and social behavior and make recommendations for plan changes.
• Prepare individualized learning plans and instruct group’s youth, providing in depth attention to students as necessary.
• Maintain proper norms and security of youth and provide crisis intervention as necessary.
• Communicate, orally and in writing all appropriate information, both within the classroom and outside the classroom (in the log and in youth charts) and to relevant outside agencies, including parents.
• Provide a learning environment to motivate youth.
• Prepare periodic and special evaluations through the Individual Service Plan (ISP) and IEP on the assigned youth, report significant changes in educational and social behavior and make recommendations for plan changes.
• Complete all necessary paperwork to insure proper recording of student progress, including daily attendance records and progress reports.

About Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center:

Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center is a Joint Commission accredited residential treatment center for emotionally and behaviorally at-risk adolescent girls. MMYTC is located on a 120-acre campus surrounded by National Forest, 25 minutes from the town of Prescott Valley. This opportunity will provide excellent training and experience in helping an at risk population that presents numerous unique strengths and challenges.
