INTRODUCTION

The Department of Physiology and Neurobiology (PNB) at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Research Professor position beginning in August 2023. This is a two-year position, renewed annually. The successful applicant will conduct cutting-edge research under the mentorship of PNB faculty who have broad expertise in molecular, cellular, and organismal mechanisms underlying physiology or neurobiology, and their relevance to human diseases/disorders. Areas of study include but are not limited to any of the following: Molecular & Cellular Physiology, Circuit & Behavioral Neuroscience; as well as Development, Disease & Tissue Repair.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary cohort of CLAS Research and Teaching Scholars and will be offered training and support related to career development, teaching, and resources.

The successful candidate will also have full access to the COR2E facilities and be eligible to apply internal and external funding. In addition to performing high-quality research activities, there will be mentored teaching opportunities for those candidates who are interested in gaining teaching experience and developing their own pedagogical skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Ph.D. in Physiology, Neurobiology, Genetics, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Two peer-reviewed publications in the relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion within the academic setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A strong record of scholarly accomplishments with peer-reviewed research publications.
  • Demonstrated success with submitting proposals and obtaining funding.
  • Previous teaching experience.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 11-month, non-tenure-track position with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2022. The salary for this position is $65,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The position is funded for two years from the date of hire, pending annual review based on satisfactory performance.
