Summary

The Department of Aerospace Engineering is seeking applications for an Assistant Research Scientist position, supporting research activities in the Department, on advanced space structures, Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Design for Manufacturing (DfM). This will be a non-tenure line position.

Responsibilities*

The job responsibilities of the selected candidate would include:

Writing grant proposals for external funding, in response to Federal and industry funding opportunities.

Develop and sustain collaborative, innovative and multi-faceted research programs that align with and supplement the current research priorities of the department, and College of Engineering at large.

Disseminate research outputs including but not limited to peer-reviewed journal articles, technical conferences, US patents, news articles, white papers, project reports etc.

Actively participate in training and mentoring of doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students.

Contribute to service activities in the department, college of engineering, university and the profession.

Required Qualifications*

Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or closely related fields by the start of appointment.

Demonstrated track record of high-quality research, including articles in peer-reviewed journals and technical/academic conferences.

Excellent communication.

Ability to work independently and train/ mentor students at graduate and undergraduate levels.

Additional Information

This is a full-time; term limited position scheduled to last up to two (2) years and 3 months.
