Do you love vegetables, herbs, flowers and greens? Bouldin Food Forest, a family-run, sustainable produce farm in Rogers, Texas, has plenty of all four.

We are seeking an assistant farmer to help plant, cultivate, harvest, and prepare the organic food we grow to sell to grocery stores and the farmer’s market.

The job includes:

Harvesting food with our team

Washing, sorting, weighing and packaging food for markets and stores

Assisting the farmers with starting seeds, planting, soil preparation, irrigation, light construction, and petting dogs

The ideal candidate is:

• Outdoorsy

Comfortable working in outdoor conditions, agile and quick on his or her feet, with all manner of dirt, sweat, snakes, bugs and weather.

• Adaptive

Farming and working with weather is unpredictable, so tasks may change at a moment’s notice.

• Comfortable fitting into a system

Farming and food production is process-driven.

• Somewhat familiar with farming, gardening or working in commercial kitchens

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience in working with plants, gardens and physically challenging work environments.

Not distracted by social media or texting. Always prompt, if not a little early.

The job is 3 days a week, typically Monday, Friday and Saturday, year-round, from 7am-3pm with a one-hour break for lunch.

The successful candidate will have weekend availability and adaptability; candidates currently enrolled in school will not be an ideal fit.

We offer a light-hearted yet focused work environment. There are no PowerPoints, Zoom meetings, or anything that could have been an email. We’ve got all the dogs, sunshine and honeybees you could ask for.

We grow for supermarkets, restaurants and the biggest farmers market in Austin.
