Job description
Under the general supervision of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for the Division of Student Affairs Administration (AVC-DSAA) oversees Administrative, Financial and Compliance Officer duties for the Student Affairs Organization (SAO). The SAO has an annual budget of approximately $164 million, with approximately 1,300 professional positions (~670 FTE) and 2,497 student positions (~354 FTE). In addition, the AVC-DSAA provides leadership for divisional departments and several services, and oversees planning activities for Student Affairs and the UCLA campus. The DSAA includes the following departments: Human Resources and Budget, Student Affairs Advancement and Marketing, Student Affairs Communications, the Student Affairs Information and Research Office, and Contracts and Grants Administration. The AVC - DSAA is also responsible for grant management, Fund Management, Performance Management, Marketing and Communication and Capital Space Planning.The scope of responsibility includes Student Affairs strategic planning, policy development, review, and interpretation, as well as monitoring of compliance requirements. Daily demands require ongoing communication across Student Affairs and campus departments, managing constituent inquiries, emergency planning and response, as well as cross-divisional coordination, collaboration, monitoring and assessment of fiscal requirements, delivery of programs and services as well as University of California and CA policy compliance.

Skills and experience in formulating short- and long-term organizational goals and objectives as well as strategies for achieving them.

Skills and experience preparing and administering a large, complex budget with multiple fund sources.

Demonstrated planning and management skills in the areas of resource management to include human resources, fiscal resources, adjudication, strategic management and assessment.

Experience managing and developing contracts, grants or complex policy driven process processes.

Demonstrated ability to carry out complex analytical, interpretive and evaluative tasks in resolving and preventing problems.

Skills and experience necessary to interpret University, federal, state and local policy and granting agency call for proposals with the ability to interpret and advise, i.e. HIPPA, FERPA, ADA504, Prop 209, etc.
