Position Summary
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Education Program in the College of Health, Arts and Sciences at Oregon Institute of Technology in collaboration with Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) announces a search for a full-time, 12-month tenure track faculty position in our developing program.

Responsibilities will include teaching entry-level DPT students in areas of expertise (priority will be given to those who have expertise in teaching, anatomy, cardiopulmonary or integumentary); participating in research; scholarship and dissemination activities according to University and CAPTE requirements; oversight of the online portion of the program; and participating in department, university, professional, and community service as additional responsibilities. The incumbent should be interested in or familiar with using innovative teaching and learning pedagogies. These include technology and grounded in educational theory and research. The incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively to continually update and enrich the curriculum.

The DPT program enrolls 24 students each year into our full-time program. The curriculum emphasizes integrated active learning experiences throughout the students’ matriculation with a focus on rural physical therapy through clinical experiences.

Department Summary
The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a joint Oregon Tech and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) program that will provide a comprehensive entry-level and post-baccalaureate DPT education, with the unique focus of preparing high quality graduates with the skills to become practitioners of choice and leaders in rural physical therapy practice. The DPT program will ensure graduates develop competence in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with health or medical conditions that may affect movement and mobility.

Graduates will complete all eligibility requirements to sit for the state licensure exam and will be prepared for employment as autonomous practitioners in a variety of clinical settings. As led by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), graduates will be encouraged to pursue advanced learning and mentorship opportunities, including but not limited to:

Qualfication Requirements

  • Licensed or currently eligible for physical therapist licensure in Oregon.
  • A completed academic doctorate (PhD, DSc, EdD or equivalent) in physical therapy or a related area of study
  • Prior academic faculty experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching in a full-time faculty capacity
