Position Focus:
This experienced educator within the Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office will design and implement a suite of data driven and research-based diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice educational trainings, facilitated discussions and workshops that directly aligns with the school’s newly adopted Diversity Strategic Plan.
Essential Duties
1. Create and deliver cutting edge content that is appropriate for audiences that include professional and graduate students, faculty, and staff. Development of curriculum for diversity, equity, and inclusion training will be key to the role. The ideal curriculum will be across multiple platforms, i.e., in-person, e-learning, virtual, etc. to maximize participation across the whole school of medicine. 2. Empower and inspire participants through adult learning pedagogies that includes interactive engagement and concludes with practical action steps that can be taken after attending any training or workshop. 3. Consult with department leadership including Diversity Champions and other key stakeholders to ensure that the educational product delivered fits the needs of the department/unit/group. 4. Collaborate with the Health Equity Thread leader at YSM when giving training to medical students to ensure that product delivered aligns with the formal curriculum. Session content will focus on critical diversity, equity inclusion and social justice topics such as inclusive leadership, communicating across differences, unconscious bias, microaggressions, allyship, sponsorship, critical race theory, restorative justice, and the history of systemic and institutional racism, its effects on academic medicine and how do we begin to dismantle to recreate an equitable community.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated ability to successfully engage diverse audiences through creative facilitated instructor-led training programs. Excellent communicator, presenter, and strong writer.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data and findings related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, adult learning, education, and related topics.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Familiarity with Qualtrics or other survey applications, and applications or software for tracking training participants and analyzing or displaying outcomes.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated ability and skill in disseminated data derived in participation in and feedback regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion training.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Ability to advise on modifying educational products based on self-created evaluation tools and informal feedback. Program planning and implementation skills.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Advanced Degree, Master's Degree or certification. Working knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula.
