Position Overview:

In this newly created role reporting to SVP, Strategy and Operations, the Associate Director/Director, Investor Relations will support a wide range of investor relations activities to enhance and promote Prothena's vision, progress, and reputation with internal and external stakeholders. This individual will be an integral team member working across functions and all aspects of Prothena's IR programs to implement IR plans aligned with corporate objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the company's IR schedule, including participation in IR conferences, non-deal roadshows, and one-on-one meetings with new and existing investors, research analysts, and investment banks
  • Developing and maintaining corporate presentations; organizing and helping develop content for R&D days and other investor-facing activities
  • Managing the development, review, and distribution of press releases, messaging documents, and other communications materials
  • Assisting with investor outreach activities and preparation of materials, including quarterly and annual reporting, analyst meetings, presentations, and conference calls/webcasts
  • Supporting timely follow-up to investor, research analyst, and trade media inquiries
  • Managing the investor relations portion of the company website
  • Keeping abreast of relevant opportunities, events, and news items with an eye to continuous improvement of IR and communication programs
  • Managing agency and other vendor relationships and overseeing budget tracking and invoice management
  • Handling special projects as requested

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, or related area (science degree a plus).
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in investor relations, ideally within the life sciences industry; a combination of small public company experience coupled with global, fully integrated, commercial stage biopharma/pharma experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated record of success within a company during periods of growth or change is a plus

  • Demonstrated leadership to drive results that are needed to achieve company objectives in accord with Prothena's culture and values – courageous, imaginative, selfless and joyful
  • Experience working collaboratively with investors and through traditional and social communication channels
  • Ability to understand the science and business strategy sufficiently to identify issues and effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (writing, proofreading, editing) as well as the interpersonal skills and ability to partner effectively across functions and within teams
  • Ability to think strategically as well as execute with attention to detail

Compensation Overview:

The anticipated annual salary range for this role at Associate Director job level is $180,000 to $230,000, and at Director job level is $200,000 to $250,000. These are the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include – but are not limited to – the final job level offered, the type and length of experience within the job and industry, relevant education, qualifications, skills, certifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.

The hired applicant will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and an equity grant in the form of stock options.

  • Prothena pays the full premium for basic life and disability insurance for all employees.
  • Prothena employees are also eligible to enroll in our Company's 401(k) plan and are always 100% vested in their account balances. The 401(k) plan provides for a quarterly, non-discretionary, 3% company-paid contribution on eligible earnings, as well as an additional, annual discretionary Company match of up to 2% of eligible earnings.
  • New Prothena employees are also eligible for 17 days of paid vacation accrued over the course of the first year of employment, paid sick time in accordance with state law, and company-paid holidays.
