The Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame seeks an Associate Director, Finance to provide leadership on financial planning, reporting and compliance. The Keough School Dean's Office and the School's nine Institutes and Centers have a combined annual budget of $40 million. Under the direction of the Director for Administration and Finance, the Associate Director manages the Dean's Office's finances, including developing financial projections, proposing financial strategies, overseeing budget planning and monitoring, and facilitating day-to-day transactions of the Dean's Office. The Associate Director works with the Institutes and Centers at the School to coordinate budgeting and reporting, ensure alignment with University and School policies, and provide advice and support on financial matters. The Associate Director serves as the primary financial liaison for the School to other units on campus.The Associate Director works closely with the Director of Administration and Finance to develop policies and guidelines and provide school-wide support (including training) on matters related to budgets and finances. The Associate Director is expected to use, implement or create tools to ensure that financial information is accurate and readily available to the School leadership to inform strategic or tactical decisions. The Associate Director is a financial subject matter expert who is highly effective in working collaboratively with colleagues with various levels of financial training, and has excellent abilities to communicate complex financial data to a variety of audiences. Oversight of Dean's Office Finances
- Develop financial projections, budgets, and reports for the Dean's Office
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions of the Dean's Office, approving expenses and reimbursements, reconciling transactions, providing guidance and advice regarding the payment of individuals, and providing guidance and advice with regards to international financial transactions
- Ensure policies and guidelines are implemented and updated
- Work with assigned Academic Advancement Director to monitor incoming gifts; in collaboration with the Program Manager for Administration, oversees acknowledgement of small gifts and stewardship reporting
- Serve as Dean's delegate to approve external grants and Institutes and Centers directors' expenses
Support, Coordination and Oversight of Keough School Institutes and Centers
- Coordinate/oversee budgeting, projections, and reporting for the Keough School, working with individual Institutes and Centers to coordinate reporting and
- Provide advice, training and general support to Institutes and Centers colleagues, to ensure policies and appropriate practices are implemented and consistent throughout the School
- Serve as defacto business manager for the Ansari Institute and McKenna Center, and advise Institutes and Centers on financial matters
Financial Liaison of the Keough School
- Serve as liaison for all University requests from Controller, Budget, Tax, and Provost Office (related to financial matters)
- Serve as first point of contact for Office of Research and Grant Accounting department, regarding externally-funded grants
- Serve as Keough School first point of contact for information and reports, including any financial-related report required for the School Advisory Council
Minimum Qualifications:
BA in accounting, economics or other relevant field. At least seven years of experience in a finance managerial role. Excellent knowledge of financial compliance and the ability to be highly attentive to details, while understanding the bigger picture. The position requires a high level of reliability with regards to accuracy, timeliness, and the handling of confidential information. Ability and interest in learning new systems, exploring new ways to report and present financial data. Excellent communication skills, including ability to train others, explain and document policies and guidelines, and prepare compelling documents in Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

- Familiarity with finance in an academic environment;
- Masters Degree in a relevant field;
- CPA.
