Position Summary

In consultation with Executive Director of Campus Security, design, install, maintain, and administer networked technologies and systems including surveillance technology, alarm systems and sensors, access control, emergency PA & mass communication, officer desks, security offices, campus emergency operations center (CEOC), and SAIC command center systems.

In consultation with CRIT and Information Services, prepare, install, maintain, and support computer and software resources necessary to Campus Security systems at security officer stations, SAIC command center, campus emergency operations center (CEOC), and supervisor workstations.

Consult with Building Access Technician / Locksmith as needed in installation and maintenance of door access electronic resources.

Maintain inventory of Campus Security-related technology resources.

Provide training and support services for SAIC Campus Security personnel on operation and functional use of Campus Security-related technology systems.

Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair resources as necessary. Refer repair to CRIT or external technicians when appropriate.

Research and recommend solutions for SAIC Security Department’s technology needs. Advise and facilitate equipment purchases as necessary.

Maintain campus wide radio over IP system and all equipment, including handhelds and base stations.

Assist with investigations, including those by the Threat Assessment Team.
Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in management, criminal justice, or other closely related field preferred.

Must have, or be able to obtain within two months of hire, nationally recognized First Aid, CPR, AED, and BBP certifications.

Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification desired but not required

3-5 years experience in security systems integration.

Deep understanding of alarm systems, IP-based cameras, NVR video recording and playback equipment, intelligent video, and enterprise systems.

Familiarity with access management hardware & software solutions (especially RS2 Technologies) and IP video management software (esp. Milestone).

Experience with the design and installation of alarm and other low voltage systems.

Demonstrated fluency and proficiency in the use of technologies such as computer applications and mobile devices (Microsoft Office Word, G Suite, etc.).

Basic working knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management.

Considerable knowledge of security policy and procedures, investigations, crime prevention (including CEPTED), security systems, and emergency management, preferably in a higher education environment.

Strong organizational, analytical planning, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-
Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with subordinates, supervisors, students, faculty, staff and the general public.

Ability and desire to lead in a diverse and inclusive higher education environment and work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and visitors to SAIC, and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
