Automation Technician (Big Springs, TX)
Job description
- 5+ years of experience in Indysoft, PLC and HMI programming, testing in the shop and field start up experience.
- PLCs (Modicon, ScadPack, Idec, Allen Bradley)
- SCADA & HMI systems (Wonderware, Indusoft, RSView, Cimplicity, Ignition)
- HMI Panels & Panel PCs (Red Lion, PanelMate, Eaton, Allen Bradley, Schneider)
- Radios and Cell Modems (MDS, Freewave, Sierra, Ubiquiti)
- Communication Protocols (Modbus, TCP/IP, HART, OPC)
- Panel design and layout using AutoCAD
- Can generate Bills of Materials for Automation systems and panels
- Establishes and implements project plans, ensures staff has the necessary skills and expertise required for the tasks on larger projects
- Prepares monthly status reports, manpower loading reports, and close-out notices
- Compares customer order with original quotation to determine variances and ensures that necessary contractual revisions are made before acceptance of order (includes but not limited to, all terms and conditions, technical specifications, delivery commitments, and any other requirement expected by the customer)
- Ensures timely and accurate preparation of all engineering documentation and specifications required for the successful implementation of the projects and to meet the documentation needs of the customer as agreed to in order of acceptance
- Establishes and maintains project communications with the customers
- Establishes procedures for performance testing and demonstrations culminating with formal customer acceptance; ensures adherence of all concerned on these procedures
- Institutes post order service support and training requirements as well as initiates spare parts recommendations.
50 -60% of the work is in the field, and 40-50% is utilizing a Programming skillset
- Degree in Electrical; Engineering or Software Engineering or computer Science or equivalent experience
- Experience in the Oil & Natural gas industry is required
- Familiar with SCADA (not required)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design, installation and troubleshooting of electrical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret Electrical Schematics and One-line diagrams required
- Working knowledge of PLC, HMI and automated equipment & standard instrumentation types required
- Ability to work independently AND with cross-functional teams of Electrical technicians, mechanics, welders, operations personnel, engineers, and safety professionals required
- US work authorization without sponsorship required
- Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background check require
- Must live in the Permian Basin (200 mile radius)
