Harefield Hospital HCA for Transplant, Cardiology and SurgeryWe are currently seeking Band 2 Health Care Assistants to work within all our specialities, surgery, cardiology and transplant. Within all these departments there is opportunity to care for patients undergoing a variety of cardiothoracic procedures.
Are you a caring individual with the ability to communicate effectively within a team, can you to adapt to change, work as part of the team as well as using your own initiative?
The successful candidate(s) will work closely with the nursing staff in the clinical areas, supporting the trained staff with direct patient care.
Hours of work are weekdays/nights/weekends – the hours are negotiable in line with the ward requirements.
Experience not required as there will be opportunity to undertake the Care Certificate and the potential to join our Nursing Associate programme in the future.

- Carry out tasks in delivering and supporting direct patient care with the support of a registered nurse. For example, attending to hygiene and nutritional needs of patients. Carrying out relevant risk assessments.
- Admitting patients as directed by the Responsible Nurse taking and recording observations on ICCA, reporting any concerns to the relevant Nurse.
- Keep clinical areas clean and tidy and maintain a safe, pleasant environment.
- Record patient observations and escalate accordingly.

Recording of patient observations.
Undertaking risk assessments such as Falls, Waterlow and Must scores
Phlebotomy when trained to do so.
Assisting patients with hygiene, feeding and mobilising.
