Men’s Basketball Recruiting Coordinator – BYU Athletics
Job Summary
The Recruiting Coordinator will report directly to the Head Coach. The position will be responsible to oversee and manage the coordination of the recruiting efforts of the Men’s Basketball Staff. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination of NCAA permissible recruiting activities for the basketball program. Being innovative and finding new ways to communicate the vision of BYU Basketball to recruits. Organize and present potential recruits to the Coaching Staff as well as oversee the coordination of travel to certified recruiting events. This role is also mandated to adhere to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws, and interpretations of the NCAA.

What You’d Be Responsible For
- Manage and coordinate NCAA permissible recruiting activities for the basketball program
- Oversee the coordination of all official and unofficial visits.
- Oversee and monitor transfer portal management and find student-athletes that would best fit BYU Basketball program
- Responsible for organization of the program’s recruiting process including coordinating the recruiting efforts of the assistant coaches (mailers, calls, texts, emails, visits)
- Provide resources, athlete bios, and background info to coaching staff that help in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes
- Coordinate the basketball recruiting marketing plan
- Create, implement, and execute a recruiting marketing plan
- Coordinate all basketball mailings to recruits and social media posts after they commit to the program.
- Develop and create recruiting goals that coincide with the cultural of BYU Basketball
- Develop an annual recruiting theme and work with the creative services department to create a brand identity for the program’s recruiting efforts
- Work with coaching staff to ensure they are part of the marketing plan and contribute to overall brand management in selling the BYU basketball program to prospective student-athletes
- Manage Recruiting Communication
- Review and organize potential student athletes that coaches can call by setting up a contact system for the coaching staff.
- Work with basketball Director of Compliance to ensure that all necessary NCAA logs and files are kept in accordance with NCAA and University requirements
- Distribute messages that come from recruits and distribute accordingly to the coaching staff.
- Work with our media team to utilize Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter to promote BYU basketball to recruits.

- Be well-informed on NCAA rules and regulations
- Have a working knowledge of and support and help ensure that the basketball staff and coaches comply with the following:
- NCAA and sport policies, specifically those related to basketball
- BYU Athletics and BYU policies and procedures.
- Work with compliance directors to satisfy departmental requirements
- Complete any necessary periodical NCAA forms
What Qualifies You to Apply?
Required: Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of college athletic experience, college basketball playing and/or coaching experience, or related field OR equivalent combination of education/experience
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years on a Division I basketball staff and prior recruiting experience
Skills, abilities, and knowledge needed:
- Ability to organize and use JustPlay
- Analytical knowledge of Synergy and Kenpom
- Knowledge of the NCAA Transfer Portal
- Organizational skills
- Skilled in PowerPoint
- Knowledge of graphic design
- Willingness to comply with BYU’s Honor Code and employment standard policies, in addition to the core values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
