Position Summary

The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) at William James College seeks applications from qualified candidates for the position of Behavioral Health Program Manager. In this role, the Program Manager will oversee several workforce development projects for the CWD, collaborate with various stakeholders, and supervise team members. The Program Manager will also work collaboratively with the administrative team to set goals for the CWD’s growth and develop concrete strategies to meet those goals. This is a full-time position for a master-level candidate with a background in program management, supervision, and direct services to underserved communities. The Program Manager will report to the Vice President for Workforce Initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the CWD’s career ladder and workforce development programs, with a focus on recruiting, training, and retaining individuals who are underrepresented in the behavioral health field.
  • Administer all aspects of the CWD’s workforce development projects, from inception to execution, and ensure that program objectives are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Implement innovative and culturally responsive workforce development programs for unserved groups and underserved communities.
  • Build partnerships with city, state, and community-based organizations to expand and diversify the CWD’s workforce development programs.
  • Collaborate with the CWD management team to ensure successful communication and coordination between program staff, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate professional development trainings for students, practitioners, and partner agencies.
  • Supervise CWD staff and work-study students.
  • Lead presentations on workforce development topics at meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Ensure compliance with funding agency guidelines and timelines, as appropriate.
  • Perform other related tasks, as assigned.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Licensed as a behavioral health provider (e.g., LMHC) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing direct care services to individuals, families, or groups from underserved communities.
  • Minimum of one year of management experience in an academic or a community-based setting.
  • Strong interest in overseeing career ladder programs for culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal departments and external agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and public speaking skills.
  • Proficient at using technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, and other web-based tools.
  • Ability to adapt to the culture of a mission-drive, fast-paced academic environment.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Ability to assume employment in the United States without College Sponsorship.
