Job Description


Responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Benefits Director in connection with the maintenance of the University’s benefits programs. Primary responsibilities include: conducting benefits orientation meetings for new employees and Faculty; explaining retirement plan features to newly-eligible employees and active participants; providing benefits information to employees as required, including specific plan provisions and related University policies; and assisting with the administration of various benefits plans, including medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, Flexible Spending Accounts, and tuition remission, including FACHEX eligibility and updating FACHEX database. Will also have primary responsibility for monitoring missed benefit deductions for employees on Summer Leave. Will work with Provost Office to verify new eligibility and continued eligibility for PT Faculty members for health plans, as well as monitor and track missed benefit deductions. Will assist in monitoring the PeopleSoft Benefits Administration function as it relates to day-to-day Benefits activities and help to resolve data inconsistencies. Working with the Assistant Directors, will assist with the management of the Retiree Medical Savings Account (RMSA), Financial Planning Subsidy payments, and Retirement Equivalency credits. Will respond to daily email, phone and in-person inquiries; set up Zoom meetings; and train and oversee BC student employees who assist with various
office activities. Responsibilities may also include: processing and monitoring FMLA and PFML applications and activity; reviewing reports and preparing and submitting premium payments for certain benefits plans; updating employee records for membership and contribution purposes; monitoring employee activity changes, including leaves and terminations, and taking appropriate action concerning benefits options.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Senior Benefits Specialist - 5+years exp $51,850 - $64,800
Benefits Specialist - 3+ years exp $47,050 - $58,800
Benefits Specialist - 1-3 years exp $41,300 - $51,600

Requirements


A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience (benefits-related experience desired). Proficiency in PC environment with working knowledge of MS WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint. PeopleSoft experience a plus, particularly PeopleSoft Benefits Administration. Must be detail-oriented and have a strong service orientation and excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
