Overview

The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is seeking an experienced, creative, and detail-oriented communications professional to develop and execute approaches that help mitigate risk and effectively communicate the impact of our work on government operations. Daily responsibilities include working with project teams to develop strategic communication plans that engage and inform key stakeholders, growing BGS's creative content and outreach programs, monitoring media activity, public event planning, and drafting project talking points, facts sheets, and other internal and external communications materials. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, with the ability to participate in BGS’s telework program, and some travel to outside meetings, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field AND two (2) or more years of experience in marketing, social media, communications, public relations, or related field.

OR

Four (4) or more years of experience in marketing, social media, communications, public relations, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with web-based content management and SEO.

Experience with graphic design.
