Bilingual Traveling Scribe to join an amazing team in the local area.

The Writer cooperates in the process of patient care by providing direct support to the physician and completing ophthalmic procedures that aid in diagnosing and treating the patient.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Writer reports to the Technician Supervisor and assists the physician in direct patient care. The Writer must maintain HIPPA/ OSHA compliance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
The duties and responsibilities of the Writer are listed according to levels of functional performance and specific technical skills. The levels progress from the basic expectations at position entry and build to advanced techniques and procedures. It is expected that the Writer, at the highest level, will be capable of performing all listed duties and responsibilities.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Aptitudes: Audio, visual and verbal ability, ability to give and follow instructions clearly and concisely, ability to organize.
Techniques and Procedures: Requires 100% interaction with people, manual dexterity to the extent of 85 - 90%, reaching limited to 85 - 90%, sitting and standing 100%.

- Be a high school graduate or the equivalent
- Write clearly and legibly
- Spell and abbreviate accurately using medical ophthalmic terminology
- Have prior experience working for an ophthalmologist or in an ophthalmic-related area (desired).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- In providing physician support, the Writer:
- Direct patients to exam rooms and prepare the patient for physician examination.
- Assists the physician during physical examination.
- Records information pertinent to each patient's diagnosis and treatment as directed by the physician.
- Obtains patient consent signature as needed.
- Instills eye medication/drops for patients when instructed.
- Reviews physician’s orders to complete internal procedures and referral forms.
- Completes encounter form information to reflect each patient's diagnostic treatment and visit parameters.
- Educates the patient regarding administering medications as directed by the physician.
- Completes requests for prescription refills as authorized by a physician with complete documentation in the patient chart.
- Open and close exam lanes daily, ensuring equipment is cleaned and disinfected appropriately; inventory and maintain supplies within the work area; replenish as needed.
