North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a BSA Specialist located in our Corporate Campus in North Raleigh. Thie BSA Specialist supports the BSA manager in monitoring compliance and preventing money laundering and other financial crimes. Ideal candidates are familiar with the Bank Secrecy Act and have experience in BSA or compliance. This person will support the ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the bank's corporate security program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reviews, investigates and decisions alerts identified through monitoring software to detect suspicious activity such as kite, fraud, structuring and money laundering.

• Determines if activity is consistent with money laundering or other financial crimes and escalates to BSA and Security Manager, as needed, by utilizing internal bank systems, transaction history analysis and open source searches.
• Supports bank employees with questions or concerns involving instances of potential suspicious activity, fraud or money laundering and provide appropriate guidance on proper course of action, escalating to BSA and Security Manager as applicable.
• Assists in accurately writing Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) narratives and reviews, as applicable.
• Assists with required record keeping, Currency Transaction Reports, Monetary Instrument Sales Log.
• Assists with annual reviews of high-risk customer reviews and enhanced due diligence.
• Attend applicable training, seminars and/or conferences and read periodicals to maintain current understanding of money laundering and terrorist financing issues including policies, procedures, best practices.
• Assist in maintaining corporate security program including electronic access, keys and training records for employees and visitors as warranted.
• Assists with OFAC verifications.

Qualifications (Includes education, certifications, experience, etc.):

• A bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three or more years of BSA/AML experience in a community bank setting.

• Possess a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and its implementing regulations, including Customer Identification Program and USA Patriot Act.
• Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent analytical, judgement, problem-solving skills and attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
• Excellent professional writing skills, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
