SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform basic repairs and tasks in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and grounds care, and assist Maintenance Specialists in performance of their jobs.



SUPERVISED BY: Director of Facilities



ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Work independently to complete basic repairs and tasks and assist Maintenance Specialists in the areas of Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, and Grounds Care, such as:

a. Carpentry: building and installing shelving units, room partitions

b. Plumbing: rebuild/replace flush valves, faucet rebuilds and repairs, snake clogged sewer lines
c. Electrical: replace ballasts, wall sockets, plugs, fuses

  • Respond to emergency calls, determine nature of problem and see that the necessary repairs are completed. Carry emergency cell phone and respond to off-hour emergencies on a one-week rotating basis year-round.

  • Plan, organize and complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Establish a positive working relationship with the appropriate vendors necessary for ordering parts, materials and supplies.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment (in the shop and on assigned District vehicle) and keep tools in proper working order.
  • Work with, or independently of, the Maintenance Specialists and/or custodial staff and maintain a positive working relationship with all District personnel.
  • Operate snow removal equipment
  • Immediately inform the Director of Maintenance of any known situation which may be hazardous to students, staff or public.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid Colorado Driver’s License. 3. 1 year building trades experience in two or more of the following areas: electrical, carpentry, HVAC, landscaping, plumbing.
4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Complete 16 hours asbestos worker training within 6 months of hire.
