R.J. Corman Railroad Services seeks an Business Development Manager in the Kansas City, KS area.

Candidates must have sales background and experience in developing business relationships. Requires customer relations skills and ability to identify needs and present proposals for new business. Construction sales experience is desirable but not required. This position is based in Kansas City, KS, though it will be covering a multiple state region. Extensive travel & 24/7 on-call availability required. Competitive salary and benefits.

R.J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC serves all seven North American major railroads, many regional and short line railroads and dozens of industries having rail. Services include owning and operating nineteen short lines, providing emergency rail services associated with derailments and natural disasters, switching, track construction, track material distribution, signal design/construction, building switching locomotives and operating a dinner train.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new client relationships with railroads and rail-served industries
  • Maintain existing client relationships through regular meetings
  • Generate sales leads
  • Effective communication of client expectations
  • Knowledge of the competitive bidding process and cost analysis
  • Knowledge of outside heavy equipment sales
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred equivalent experience accepted
  • 24 Hour availability for emergency services pertaining to RJC Railroad Services. To include any Storm Team obligations in or out of market.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce or another CRM platform preferred
  • Strong business financial acumen, analytical thinking with well-developed communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task
  • Must have operated in similar role with 3-5 years related experience, preferably in similar industry
  • Demonstrated experience in a sales environment preferred
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point.
