ABOUT THE JOB
The Business Development Manager is a key member of the leadership team in the Technology Business Unit. This role is responsible for developing the service organization’s pipeline, capturing process to drive significant growth and market leadership, and working with leaders across the organization to ensure strategic business plans are successfully executed to win and grow Tepa’s Technology companies in the IT and Geospatial Markets
Growing a pipeline of future opportunities that support the continued expansion of Federal business with a focus on expanding Tepa’s client base and technical offerings in IT and Geospatial markets- Working in a team environment with senior management, program and technical staff to develop successful market strategies, strategic partnerships, and competitive analysis
- Performing annual revenue generation, pipeline, and award targets
- Networking and connection to IT and Geospatial industries
- Developing, tracking, and executing business development tasks from lead generation through capture
- Obtaining market intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits, and developing marketing strategies that maximize the value of that intelligence
- Establishing, building, and maintaining customer relationships and assessing competitor capabilities aligned to specific customers across our business portfolio including federal and non-federal customers
- Coordinating and collaborating with other organizations within Tepa to support opportunities
- Supporting marketing efforts by developing presentations, white papers, and working with program and technical leads to properly develop and market technical capabilities
- Leading and actively participating in tradeshows, industry events, and customer interaction efforts
- Mentoring of junior sales staff
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (business/marketing, geography or information technology)
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of hands-on experience leading business development with focus on strategic, complex opportunities
- Experience navigating the benefits of a tribally owned 8(a) company (preferred)
- Strong IT and/or Geospatial industry network and knowledge of competitors.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% annually
- Demonstrated experience executing significant business development activities, including building industry teams, customer interaction plans to shape acquisitions, pipeline management to respond to and win business with new and existing customers.
- Experience leading opportunity captures $5million including developing overall win strategy, developing team strategies, understanding pricing, and developing winning proposals
- Ability to identify key growth areas and develop new business aligned with the company's growth strategy
- Knowledge of Federal Government contracting, current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors
- High sense of urgency and a positive outlook
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience writing proposals and making presentations
- Ability to mentor capture teams in the development of win strategies
- Able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and deliver on multiple priorities
