Job description
Maintenance Grounds – Upkeep and improve UMC grounds to provide clean and well-maintained outdoor areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain UMC dirt surfaces and grounds
- Irrigation repair and maintenance
- Weed abatement using chemicals and equipment
- Trimming weeds, bushes, and lawns
- Upkeep of gardens
- Dragging and grooming non-asphalt surfaces such as dirt parking lots and berms
- Trash disposal
- Assist with set ups, clean ups, and trash rotation for events
- Equipment operation: mowers, weed trimmers, forklift, water truck, backpack blowers, skid steer, and trenching machine
- Other Maintenance duties as assigned by Supervisor
Skills & Requirements:
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Reliable and punctual
- Ability to be exposed to outdoors for extensive periods of time in all weather conditions including extreme heat, rain, and snow
- May be required to dig with shovel or pickaxe
- Good problem-solving skills
- Work with a team or individually
- Demonstrate professionalism in stressful situations
- Accommodate schedule changes based on event
- Some overtime, weekends, or nights as required
- Innovative ideas on how to improve upkeep and look of grounds by xerascaping or other means
- Must be able to work with all types of personalities
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience with lawn maintenance and equipment preferred
