JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: CDL DRIVER & PEER/FAMILY RECOVERY, RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST

(Part Time or Full Time)

Hours: Evening and Weekend hours as needed

Supervisor: Vice President, Programs

Definitions:

(a) CDL DRIVER/PEER/FAMILY RECOVERY, EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST - For purposes of this position, the IDEAL candidate is an individual that helps individuals and families regain control of their lives through recovery from addiction, mental health issues, or drug abuse. This involves working with individuals and families dealing with serious level of mental illness, assisting the individuals and families in identifying life goals and making progress toward those goals, including getting patient and family into treatment, helping them get job training and assisting them get good job employment. This specialist help the individuals and their families attain good help and achieve economic stability.

(b) SERVICES – this includes: (a) Recovery Support; (b) Employment Assistance; (c) Training Assistance, and serve as driver for HTC’s mobile clinic and 12-seater van.

Functions:

1. Develop and maintain an effective community and families outreach to identify individuals and families needing services in Hi-Tech Charities’ target areas of Metro St. Louis (St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles) and rural counties (Jefferson, St. Genevieve, St. Francios, Washington).

2. Drive 12-seater van to outreach sites and provide to Recovery Clients and families, services that include RECOVERY, EMPLOYMENT, and TRAINING services.

3. Through community and family outreach, identify and enroll into HTC Treatment and Counseling programs, a minimum of ten (10) patients/clients per week.

4. Working with HTC Treatment and Counseling staff, identify Recovery Clients who are appropriately prepared and ready, and enroll a minimum of nine (9) patients/clients per week, into Missouri Career Centers and other employment agencies for employment and training services, and a minimum of seven (7) getting job per week, to help the Recovery Clients attain economic stability, self-sufficiency, and the ability to support self and family.

5. Through community and family outreach, identify and provide housing counseling and accommodation assistance to 100% of those needing shelter or accommodation, facilitating housing for clients and helping the homeless secure housing accommodation in various facilities in HTC target areas.

6. Collaborate with other community-based and faith-based organizations and agencies that would result to more community members participating in HTC Treatment and Counseling programs.

7. Maintain project logs, reports and records in appropriate files and database(s).

8. Provide recovery education to service recipients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.

9. Assist recovering persons and their families to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery.

10. Assist/coach recovering persons and their develop their own plan for advancing their recovery; for “getting the life they want.”

11. Recovery Planning -- facilitate (via personal coaching) the transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self-directed Recovery Plan. The goal should be to transition from professionally assisted recovery initiation to personally directed, community supported recovery maintenance.

12. Promote self advocacy by assisting recovering persons and their families to have their voices fully heard; their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point of rehabilitation and clinical services.

13. Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person’s and families’ goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff and other relevant stakeholders.

14. Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups. Link individuals and families to appropriate professional resources when needed. Provide vision-driven hope and encouragement for opportunities at varying levels of involvement in community based activities (e.g., work, school, relationships, physical activity, self-directed hobbies, etc.).

15. Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the agency.

16. As recovery specialist position evolves and knowledge increases, visit community resources with recovering persons to assist them in becoming familiar with potential opportunities.

17. Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers.

18. Maintain contact by phone and/or e-mail with recovering person and family after they leave the program to insure their ongoing success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in the agency if needed. Long-term engagement, support, and encouragement.

19. Other duties as directed by Executive Director and/or Management Staff.

Qualifications: Associate Degree or Bachelor and 3 letters of recommendation; possess commercial driver license (CDL) and possess commercial driving experience; must have worked within the last three years with at least 12 months total of successful or part or full time paid or voluntary work experience and have acquired or meet the qualifications for certification as a Certified Recovery Specialist. Individual must have an understanding of and respect for each individual’s unique path to recovery. Specialist must have a working knowledge of the treatment system and a demonstrated commitment to the recovery community. MUST BE DRUG/ALCOHOL FREE (SOBER) A MINIMUM OF FIVE YEARS.

Hours per Week: 40 hours per week.

Salary and Benefit: $35,000-$45,000 per year with full benefits, 401k, Retirement Plan, etc.
