Charge Capture Specialist

The Charge Capture Analyst collaborates with departmental revenue owners to monitor charge capture, revenue reconciliation and revenue trending across assigned departments and reports to the VP/AVP of Finance of St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center. This role completes focused charge review audits for assigned clinical departments and/or service lines to ensure that charges are generated in accordance with established policies and timeframes.
Responsibilities
Works with Health Information Management (HIM), Coding & Revenue Integrity Management (RIM) to advise departmental revenue owners and staff on proper usage of charge codes, CPC/HCPCS codes.
Collaborates with RIM to apply appropriate billing guidelines, state and federal regulations, and third party billing rules/coverage. Identifies opportunities for capturing additional revenue in accordance with these guidelines and standard business practices.
Performs and monitors daily charge capture, revenue reconciliation, late charge trending, keep late charge lag within compliance, revenue trending, and work queues for assigned departmental revenue owners for compliant charge capture detail and documentation integrity. Identifies operational trends and benchmarks.
Monitors and works with Revenue Cycle and IT staff to resolve accounts that are not routing through the HB Revenue Cycle process.
Monitors and works to resolve work queues for charge to coding correction.
Works with clinical staff, department managers and coders to correct deficiencies in clinical documentation to support medical necessity of services rendered or supplies used.
Collaborates with RIM to implement new or expand service lines and validates CPT/HCPCs codes for procedures and supplies.
Assist VP/AVP of Finance and Compliance with reporting requirements.
Educates staff on any changes related to work queue management.
Participates in and monitors changes associated with Epic upgrades from a financial perspective.
Will include additional duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor degree in accounting, healthcare administration or equivalent
3 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred
Intermediate proficiency of MS Office professional particularly Excel and Access
Familiarity with Epic HB resolute preferred
