Position Title: Cheer Team Coach-SLIFE - 992780

Position Overview:

This positions primary duty is coaching (teaching) (90%). The coach will provide daily instruction to student-athletes to increase their knowledge and understanding of the sport. Provide strategic direction, leadership, and motivation to prepare student-athletes for gameday/sideline performances. Plan, organize and conduct practices to enhance the team's sideline and game day execution. Educate and enforce safety rules and regulations. Plan and direct physical conditioning programs that will enable athletes to achieve maximum performance. Educate individuals or groups in rules, strategies, techniques, and principles relevant to their particular sport. Evaluate athletes' skill level and review performance records to determine their fitness and potential in a particular area of athletics. Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport. Ensure compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations for their respective sport program.

UCO Cheer is a game-day/sideline only team. The team is not, and will not, compete competitively in local, regional, or national cheer or STUNT competitions. Position is 20 hours per week.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
The duties listed in this job description are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Coordinates, schedules, advertises and runs Cheer Team game squad. Teaches/coaches cheer technique, safe stunting, safe jumping, tumbling. Approximately 90% of time is spent teaching/coaching. Schedules and attends all practices for game squad. Attends all home football games, home basketball games when team performs and some high-level appearances. Keeps track of all uniforms, coordinates check in and check out of uniforms/accessories to ensure all are returned in good condition. Keeps track of team requirements for fulfillment of scholarship. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Student Life department consists of student programming, fraternity/sorority life, orientation, leadership programs, student organization services, community engagement, spirit teams, and major campus events. Qualifications/Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts of collegiate sports programs. Requires the application of expertise in the sport to achieve results. Coaching experience with leading planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment. Must be detail-oriented and organized in the administration of financial matters, travel plans, schedule development and oversight of the sport program. Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification must be provided. Appropriate professional accomplishments and credentials. Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification must be provided.

The successful candidate will be a person of, lead the team with, and expect from their athletes: maturity, integrity, and ethics.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Strong background in cheer, choreography, technique, coaching and/or stunting. Background in student athlete development, support, and mentoring.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Safety is the responsibility of every employee; therefore, all employees will be trained to perform work safely.
