Job description

This position is a working Lead and performs all job duties within the Cheese Store. Job duties include cash handling, this position is responsible for all training procedures on serving, product knowledge and operating the cash registers. Keeps the shelves and coolers well stocked, the ice cream area clean and sanitized and handles all customer transactions in a courteous manner. Provides work direction and coaching to clerks to efficiently complete tasks. If disciplinary action is needed, makes recommendation to Store Manager. This job requires constant standing and some lifting. Must be flexible with hours worked and available and willing to work majority of the weekends. Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced work environment.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

• Delivers training program for clerks working in the ice cream area of the store, including new employee orientation and cash register training.
• Provides work direction and coaching to clerks as needed to complete tasks.
• Stock, organize, and rotate products to ensure it is available and appealing for customers.
• Prepare and serve ice cream products per customer request.
• Accurately complete customer transactions operating the cash register and making change.
• Clean ice cream machine according to guidelines, troubleshoot and makes calls when repairs are needed.
• Smile and greet customers, answer questions regarding the product. Consistently display helpful and positive attitude.
• Clean and maintain store area before, during and at the end of shift. Follows sanitary requirements.
• Maintains a clean and neat appearance and requires clerks to do the same following dress code.
• Follow all safety guidelines including the use of required personal protective equipment to ensure health and safety of self and others.
• Performs all other duties as apparent to position or as delegated.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Receive Forklift certification to operate forklift when needed.
• Assist management in inventory counts, and reconciliation.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally lift and stack up to 50 pounds; push/pull carts up to 200 pounds

Skills/Education:

• Able to motivate and provide excellent coaching and leadership skills to clerks working in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (must be able to read, write, and speak English).
• Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude.
• Proficient with Burnett Dairy inventory control software.
• Cash handling experience, ability to make change and operate and train on the cash registers
