Job description
The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) will be responsible for the overall function and oversight of the accounting function. The position will be responsible for the accounting, reporting, and ongoing development and monitoring of systems and processes designed to report timely and accurate financial results.
Work with senior leadership and oversee the operations of the accounting function, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
Oversee relationships with external auditors to ensure timely preparation of external audit reports, while managing efficient fee levels
Ensure appropriate control environment to safeguard and protect our financial assets and ensure compliance with the regulatory environment
Oversee the consolidation and roll-up of all asset-level accounting
Work closely with stakeholders to ensure delivery of ad hoc reporting and other data in line with their needs
Manage end-user expectations and relationships
Provide direction and oversight to ensure proper calculation valuations of financial reporting metrics, including non-GAAP measures
Direct and oversee the month-end closing processes
Consistently review overall department function and look for areas to improve processes and efficiencies in accounting and reporting
Coordinate with tax department regarding the review of relevant tax filings and returns
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred but not required
CPA required
Minimum 12-15+ years of experience
Advanced Excel skills and strong familiarity with database management
Attention to detail when preparing and reviewing files
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and overtime as needed
Demonstrate leadership/mentoring skills, enthusiastic and analytical with dedicated work ethic
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Real Estate experience and property accounting experience preferred but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $180,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
