Childcare Center Prep CookKama'aina Kids in Kahalui is currently seeking a Prep Cook to help prepare and serve nutritious meals to our small preschool program. Bring your love of children and past experience in childcare, early education, and/or food preparation to our team of kind, caring staff!

Position Summary:
Manage the kitchen at a Childcare Center which includes planning, preparing, serving, and recording daily meals
Schedule:
Part-time, Mon/Wed/Fri 7am-11am - Additional hours possible!

- Handle the responsibilities of cooking and keeping a kitchen
- Understand and do the math required for figuring the quantity of food to prepare
- Follow guidelines of USDA Federal Food Program
- Keep records accurate and up to date
- Plan meals according to Kama‘aina Kids/HCC Standard Menu and USDA guidelines
- Prepare meals
- See that meals are served on time
- Determine necessary foods to be ordered from the Main Office or appropriate supplier when authorized
- Attend food service workshops as directed
- Call in orders to Main Office and vendors
- Shop for fresh foods and store them properly
- Handle a Petty Cash Account; be accountable for all money issued for food purchases
- Prepare and post menus for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack
- Set up and serve meals
- Wash and sterilize dishes, pots, glasses, and utensils after use
- Scrub counters and kitchen tables after use (may also be responsible for cleaning the dining area after a serving)
- Keep kitchen floor clean by picking up dropped food and wiping up spills
- Clean refrigerators and stove at least weekly
- Clean fan, freezers, and storage areas at least every other month or as needed
Candidates must pass required state and company background checks and meet state and company minimum education.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current First Aid & CRP/AED Certification (Qualified Training Provided).
- No prior experience required; all training is provided.
