GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Performs varied manual and semi-skilled labor for the water department. Operates heavy, motorized equipment including tank trucks, tractors, sewer vacuum trucks, sludge injection vehicles, backhoes, forklifts, and front-end loaders. Performs routine and emergency maintenance on equipment. Repairs and maintains manholes, sewer lines, and treatment pumps.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Operates heavy equipment including backhoes and trucks to install water and sewer mains.
- Repairs water leaks.
- Performs repairs on pumps, motors and other equipment.
- Loads and unloads heavy equipment.
- Performs loading, transfer, and application of bio solids to the land application site following established guidelines and regulations.
- Performs routine and emergency maintenance on equipment.
- Collects, records, and monitors samples.
- Repairs and maintains manholes, sewer lines, and treatment pumps.
- Assists other Department employees as requested.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Additional training or up to one (1) year of job-related course work after high school
- At least one (1) to three (3) years of related work experience
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Licenses or Certifications
- Possession of a standard driver license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A
- Delaware Water Operator License
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
