FSAP is an internal Employee Assistance Program that contributes to a culture of wellness by providing individual counseling and organizational consulting services to the employee population at UCSF and is NOT a student counseling center. Post-Doctoral Fellows provide therapeutic services to dedicated scientists, physicians, faculty, and staff who strive to make the world a better place.

Since 1995, FSAP's dynamic training program has helped train clinical psychologists in preparation for licensure and career development. Our training program offers a unique opportunity for fellows to refine their therapeutic skills, as well as to learn specialized skills in organizational consultation and intervention. Many of our trainees go on to work in hospital and academic settings, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), and in private practice where they provide consultation to business and academic organizations.

Fellows function as integral members of our clinical team. They provide ~15 hours of 1-1 clinical work per week (NO after-hour emergency on-call required) in addition to organizational consultation opportunities and management consulting. An interest in developing organizational psychology skills in addition to 1-1 therapeutic skills is required. The primary duties include:

-Intake assessment.

-Brief psychotherapy.

-Referral services to clients after brief counseling.

-Facilitation 8-week Mindfulness Self-Compassion Courses offered to employees.

-Psycho-educational presentations to the UCSF community (i.e. workshops on resilience, communication, emotional intelligence, stress management, mindfulness, grief groups, etc.) and organizational consulting services to management and UCSF departments in need.

-Clinical training + supervision (between 4-8 hours a week)

-Organizational Psychology + Wellness in the workplace

The 40-hour/week, one-year training program consists of clinical activity, didactics, supervision and mentorship, and provides 1500+ hours of supervised experience toward licensure. A stipend of approximately $62,400 ($30/hour), medical plan, 4 weeks PAID vacation, sick leave, and 14 PAID holidays are provided for the training year. Pre-licensure coursework is provided through online training with the exception of the substance abuse pre-licensure requirement. FSAP employs 3 Fellows yearly. Fellows start on a staggered schedule, at the beginning of February, June, and October of each year.

Important Information: This is a hybrid fellowship. Fellows can anticipate to work in the San Francisco office 2-3 days per week and remotely the other days. As a result, if offered the position, fellows must reside within commuting distance to San Francisco. Fellows will be given laptop computers and remote work equipment. Proof of vaccinations required under GME and UCSF guidelines.

Requirements:

• PhD or PsyD in Psychology (if you are ABD, you will need to wait to apply until your degree is conferred, or provide proof that your degree will be conferred before the start of the postdoc).
• Practicum experience primarily with adult populations
• Experience and/or strong interest in organizational, leadership, and group psychology
