Position Description
Under general supervision, the Coder-Facility Services reviews all clinical procedure and service and diagnoses entries on outpatient encounter forms and/or records to harvest, substantiate and specify final diagnoses and procedures. This position will also code diagnoses and operative procedures utilizing ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems as a means of classification for use in research, statistical studies and cost reimbursement.
Position Requirements
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, ICD-9-DM/ICD-10 and CPT coding processes.
Preferred Requirements
Associates Degree: Health Information Technology and 1 year or more of experience in facility coding. Experience with online medical records. Preferred certification(s): CCA, CPC, CCS, or RHIA.
